The CCBC Beijing Chapter People Strategy Committee, the British Chamber of Commerce, SingCham Beijing, and Rutgers Business School are pleased to present Mr. Robin Ball, an expert in global leadership development and cross-cultural teams.  He will be speaking on - "Cross-cultural Leadership and Improving Performance of Remote teams".

Due to the current economic crisis, travel budgets are shrinking and it is becoming more important than ever for global operations to have high performing virtual teams. Effective communication skills are critical to managing cooperative relationships across time zones, functional areas and geographical lines.  This seminar will explore the differing Eastern and Western values, beliefs and behaviors, and how these impact trust, commitment and communication in a virtual team environment. Robin will share practical tips you can use to improve the effectiveness and performance of virtual teams in your organization. Please join us to learn more about this interesting and timely topic.

Biography

Robin Ball
Robin has over 20 years experience in managing operations and developing people in East Asia. He specialises in helping leaders create synergy for improved performance, and also focuses on intercultural issues for both local and expatriate managers.

In 1995 Robin founded Management Development Services Ltd. a successful leadership development training company with offices in Hong Kong and Beijing. He then founded OI Partners Hong Kong which is part of the world's largest executive coaching and career consulting partnership. Robin has trained and coached hundreds of managers in Greater China and the Asia Pacific Region. Recent clients include Microsoft, Turner Broadcasting Asia, Deloitte, Veolia Water, Li and Fung Trading, British Council and Bank of America.

Robin has a first degree in Chinese Studies from the University of Leeds, and a Masters of Management degree in Human Resource Management from Macquarie University in Sydney. He taught management and leadership development at the Britannia Royal Naval College, and lectured in organisational behaviour, management and HRM at Hong Kong University. Robin currently runs the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) centre of excellence in Hong Kong, Beijing and Taiwan. He is a Certified Practitioner of MBTI® Step I&II, FIRO-B®, Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQi™), Leadership Effectiveness Analysis (LEA™), and the Harrison Assessment (HA™)
