Geographical Location
Hangzhou is the nearest capital city to Shanghai in the Yangtze Delta. 3-hour transportation circle covers all main cities of Yangtze Delta. 30-minute-drive to the international airport. The High-Tech Innovation Service Centre
• The innovation service center of Hangzhou Hi-tech Industry Development Zone was awarded a honorary title of "Excellent Service Organization for the 20th Anniversary of National Scientific and Technological Program
• There are 327 incubating enterprises in the Hi-tech innovation service center now. 70 of them were registered in 2008. The number of incubating projects is 69 with the estimated revenue of 400 million RMB in technology, industry and trade. Moreover, 12 projects were financed about 4 million RMB by National Innovation Fund through the application of the Center. Another 12 projects are being supported by the Seed Fund with 2.1 million RMB.
• Since the beginning of the second half of 2008, the innovation service center of Hangzhou Hi-tech Industry Development Zone adjusts its work in time by carrying out various policies in order to help companies rebuild their confidence and get over with this economic "winter".
Science, Technology, and Education
• More than 80% of colleges and universities in Zhejiang Province are gathered in Hangzhou City. Sciences and educations in Hangzhou are advanced. It has 36 higher educational institutions, with 380,000 university students. By 2010, the figure will reach 500,000. These universities provide 247 programs relating to service outsourcing, with 18,000 graduates per year.
• The BPO industry in Hangzhou has shown fast and healthy development. Hangzhou has more than 1,000 IT companies. Near 600 companies are registered as software companies. By the end of last year, 56 companies here had undertaken international service outsourcing. More and more JVs of big international companies, eg. Microsoft, Intel, NEC and Infosys have set up their R&D centers in Hangzhou.
