The China Great Wall Society is organising "Great Wall Chinese Culture Evening" and cordially invites SingCham members to take part:

Time: 3-9pm, 9 Oct 2008, Thu

Venue: Ju Yong Pass of the Great Wall

Participants: A total of 600 people, including foreign diplomats in China, representatives from foreign Chambers of Commerce in China, Senior managers in Multi-National Corporations, Representatives of foreign students in China (Winners at Chinese Competition), Chinese language teachers in Universities, famous painters and calligraphers, folk artists, tea artists, T'ai Chi masters, entertainers and national and foreign media representatives.

Programme (Four Parts)

Part I (3-5:30 pm)
- Scale the Ju Yong Pass (4,142 meters high) of the Great Wall and we will select five "Real Man" (The Chinese people customarily climb mountains to pray for happiness at the Double Ninth Festival.)

Part II (6-7 pm)
- Cultural display and Interaction; banquet at the Great Wall; Performance of tea art, Chinese chess and T'ai Chi; brief introduction to the history of Chinese characters, porcelain paintings, tradition paintings and calligraphy, paper cutting, making kites and clay figuring crafts; making dumplings; self-help dinner of Chinese and traditional food

Part III (7-8 pm)
- Performance and award ceremony (Guqin, Mongolian music, Kunqu Opera, Shanbei folk songs, crosstalk (xiangsheng), Chinese traditional clothing and fashion show, music drama scenes, performances by the ambassadors of Chinese Language, etc.)

c. Ten Honorary Citizens of Juyong Pass of the Great Wall
d. Five 'Real-Man'

★ The ambassadors of Chinese Language and Lifelong Honorary Readers of The World of Chinese will be selected by the experts and netizens (Please visit www.hanyushijie.com for application). The honorary citizens of Juyong Pass of the Great Wall will be chosen randomly from the name cards of all the attendees.

Part IV (8-9 pm)
- costume ball at the Great Wall

长城“汉语之夜”大型文化活动

时    间：2008年10月9日（星期四）  15：00---21：00

地    点：居庸关长城（天下第一雄关）

主办单位：中国长城学会      商务印书馆《汉语世界》杂志社

参加人员：各国驻华使节、商会代表、跨国公司高级管理人员、外国留学生代表(汉语大赛获奖者)、大学汉语教师、著名书画家、民间艺术家、茶艺师、太极拳师、艺人、节目主持人、国家级媒体及境外媒体代表等600人。

活动安排：共四个阶段

第一阶段：15：00－17：30 登居庸关长城（4142米）体育活动，并评选出5名“长城好汉”长城体育活动 （九九重阳登高祈福）

第二阶段：18：00－19：00 文化展示与互动交流、长城夜宴
茶艺、象棋、太极、汉字发展简史、中国瓷板画、书画、剪纸、风筝制作、泥人工艺、百人包饺子、自助式中餐

第三阶段：19：00－20：00 表演与颁奖（古琴、蒙古长调、昆曲、陕北民歌、相声、中国传统服饰与时装、动作音乐剧片段、汉语形象大使才艺展示）

颁奖内容包括：
1.  汉语形象大使3名   报名网站：www.hanyushijie.com

3.  居庸关长城荣誉公民10名
4．长城好汉5名

★ 汉语形象大使和《汉语世界》终身荣誉读者将通过网络及专家评选产生，居庸关长城荣誉公民将从活动与会者交来的名片中现场抽取。

第四阶段：20:00-21:00   长城化妆舞会
