Singapore Citizens Need Visa to Visit China w.e.f. 1 July 2008
2008-4-22 13:30:55

Dear Sir/Madam,

1) Entry Visas into China
As you may be aware, currently, Singapore ordinary passport holders intending to travel to China for a period of 15 days or less do not require a visa. The Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been informed by the Chinese authorities that with effect from 1 July 2008, this visa-free facility would be temporarily suspended. Singapore ordinary passport holders would require a visa for entry into China. We have been given the assurance that the visa requirement is a temporary measure.  The visa-free facility for travels of 15 days or less would be reinstated after the Beijing Olympics. The Chinese authorities have not informed us of the exact date when the visa-free facility will be reinstated.

2) Multiple-Entry Visas
The Embassy also understands that  while the Chinese authorities will continue to accept the applications for Multiple-Entry Visas, the approval will be on a case-by-case basis with strong justifications. We advise you to contact the Chinese Embassies for further details on such applications.

3) We hope that you could help to disseminate the above information to other Singaporeans in China who may not yet on the e-Register.

Yours sincerely,
Angeline Szeto
Singapore Embassy in Beijing
