2008 was an outstanding year for SingCham. We chartered new paths and provided greater effectiveness in quality events and services, creating more value for our members.
2008年是中国新加坡商会业绩斐然的一年。在这一年中，我们筚路蓝缕，开拓创新，推出高质量的活动与服务，为会员创造价值。
Events & Services 活动与服务
In the year 2008, SingCham organised a total of 46 main events, co-organised another 36 events with our strategic partners, including friendly chambers and associations as well as local Chinese governments. That averages out to 7 main events per month. In comparison, we had 2.5 main events in 2006, and 4 main events in 2007.
2008年，商会一共主办了46场主要活动，并与战略伙伴（包括友好商会、行业协会、中国地方政府等等）联办了36场主要活动。商会每月平均举办7场主要活动。相比之下，在2006年和2007年这两年内，商会每月平均活动仅为2.5和4场。
Starting from May 2008, SingCham started running events beyond Beijing, particularly in Guangzhou, Suzhou, and Shanghai. These events comprise talks and seminars on economic and business issues, investment visits, golf tournaments, and business networking sessions. These events aim to help our members understand better the local business environment as well as appreciate policy shifts and economic trends, while at the same time provide opportunities to link up and network with potential business partners.
从2008年5月，商会开始在北京以外地区举办活动，特别是广州、苏州和上海等城市。这些活动主要有：经济及商务讲座和论坛、投资考察访问、高尔夫球赛、以及商务交流会。通过这些活动，会员能够对当地经商和投资环境、政策、新法律法规以及经济动态等有进一步的了解和认识，并有机会与潜在的商务伙伴建立或加强联系。商会也积极配合中国地方政府的招商工作。
We improved our website to offer online services such as job vacancies and candidates search, providing information on accommodation, school admission and car rental, offering retail discounts, as well as consular updates. These are in addition to the regular web-based commercial advertisements and promotions that we do for our members.
我们升级了商会网站的功能，提供诸如招聘、求租、寻租、入学、租车、零售优惠、领事通告等网上服务。同时，我们也为会员提供传统的网上商业广告和促销活动。
Engaging Overseas Singaporeans 联系在华新加坡侨胞
Other than business events and services, SingCham also organised and supported events engaging overseas Singaporeans. Events such as President Nathan's Beijing Reception, cheering and reception for the Singapore Olympics team, National Day and Christmas celebrations, talks on art appreciation and investment, Chinese New Year reunion, country tours, movie screenings, sports carnival, etc. help to preserve ties of kinship for Singaporeans living away from home and provided channels of support and contact among the Singapore communities in various parts of China.
除了商务活动和服务，商会也为在华新加坡侨胞举办各种爱国与文娱体育活动，包括配合纳丹总统访华举办的北京招待会、为新加坡奥运代表队举办的招待会、为乒乓女队决赛喝彩鼓劲、新加坡国庆庆典、圣诞晚会、艺术鉴赏与投资讲座、春节团拜、郊游、电影招待会、运动嘉年华等等，吸引了大批侨胞参加，时时心系祖国，也为侨胞社群之间的社交联系提供了必要的渠道和协助。
To further strengthen ties between the various Singapore communities in China, SingCham formed partnerships with the local alumni of Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore through joint events and programmes such as SingCham Beijing's Board Room Series. We also started collaboration with Shanghai Singapore Business Association to introduce Shanghai-based business events.
为了加强各个在华新加坡社群的相互联系和合作，商会与新加坡南洋理工大学和新加坡国立大学地方校友会建立合作伙伴关系，共同推出诸如北京工作小组的“董事会系列”讲座及活动。同时，我们也开始与上海新加坡商业协会合作，在上海举办商务活动。
Membership 会员发展
Resulting from our active promotions, membership rose 150% from 398 in 2007 to 978 in 2008. SingCham Guangdong and SingCham Jiangsu were set up in 2008. As equal partners, SingCham working groups in Beijing, Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Jiangxi work harmoniously to expand our network and provide optimal benefits to our members.
由于商会的积极进取，商会会员从2007年的398人增长150％，达到2008年的978人。2008年，我们成立了广东和江苏工作小组。作为同级合作伙伴，商会的北京、福建、广东、江苏和江西工作小组和谐合作，共同积极扩展网络，致力于会员利益最大化。
Philanthropy 慈善
As responsible corporate citizen, SingCham donated RMB 2 million in cash, in addition to relief supplies, to the Sichuan earthquake victim. We also contribute to other charitable organisations, and will continue to do our part to support the local communities.
作为有责任感的社会公民，中国新加坡商会为四川灾区人民捐赠了两百万元人民币及其他一些救灾物资。我们也为其他慈善团体筹款捐款，并会继续为当地社会做我们份内的义务。
Nurturing the next generation 培育未来一代
To engage the Singaporean students and to enhance their understanding of China, and vice versa for Chinese students, SingCham organised and supported seminars and industrial visits for both Singaporean and Chinese students from institutions such as National University of Singapore, Peking University, Tsinghua University of International Business and Economics, Nanyang Girls High School, etc.
为了加强中、新两国学生对互相国家社会的了解，商会为新加坡国立大学、新加坡南洋女中、北京大学、对外经济贸易大学等学府的学生举办讲座和企业考察等活动。
Year 2009 Plans 2009年计划
Although we have built up a good network, there is much more we need to do.
尽管商会基本建立了良好的关系网络，但是我们还得再接再励。
In the new year, in addition to our current events and services, we will be launching three key projects. First, there is a seminar series, both in China and Singapore, to facilitate our members with better understanding of the China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. Next, is to launch a large scale Singapore Pavilion in Fuzhou in May, showcasing Singapore's unique products and services, in conjunction with the 6th Fujian Commodities Trade & Investment Fair. We will also work with schools and universities in Singapore for the students' internship or holiday attachment programmes. This will enable our next generation to better understand and appreciate the Chinese socio-economic environment.
在未来一年，在现有的活动和服务的基础上，我们准备推出三个重要活动。首先，我们准备举办一系列讲座，让会员对中国－新加坡自由贸易协定有较好了解。其次，我们准备配合第六届福建商品交易会，在福州举办“非常新加坡品牌展”，向中国东南市场推荐新加坡特有的产品与服务。我们也准备与新加坡的学校和大学合办学生假期实习项目。这将有助我们的下一代更好的了解中国的社会经济环境。
With the global economic crisis, SingCham's role as facilitator of businesses becomes more relevant. In 2009, we will continue to set up working groups in key areas including Shanghai, Sichuan and Tianjin so that the Singaporean business communities may leverage on SingCham's status, activities and network.
在当前世界经济危机的大背景下，商会协助会员推动商务发展的角色更为关键。2009年，我们准备在上海、四川、天津等地成立工作小组，让当地的新加坡工商社群能够充分利用商会的资源和人脉网络。
SingCham has enjoyed good network with the other foreign chambers in China. To build on this network, we will strengthen our collaboration with Singapore-based strategic partners such as Business China, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Singapore Business Federation, as well as local business chambers and trade associations in China, including the Hunan Chamber of Commerce and Suzhou Chamber of Commerce, with which SingCham signed collaborative MOUs in 2008.
中国新加坡商会一向与其他在华外国商会关系较好，合作也较深。未来一年，我们准备在这个良好基础上，加强与新加坡本国商协会的联系与合作，比如：通商中国、新加坡中华总商会、新加坡工商联合总会等。同时，商会也会加强与中国地方商会和相关行业协会的联系与合作，比如，2008年，中国新加坡商会就与湖南省工商联、苏州市工商联等签订了合作备忘录。
We will also build on our existing working relationship with Singapore government agencies such as Contact Singapore, Economic Development Board, International Enterprise Singapore, Ministry of Trade & Industry, Overseas Singaporean Unit, Singapore Tourism Board, the Singapore Embassy and our other missions in China to further our common cause.
我们也会继续加强与新加坡政府有关部门的合作，包括总理公署海外侨民联系署、贸易工业部、经济发展局、国际企业发展局、新加坡旅游局、联系新加坡、新加坡驻华使领馆等等。
