NUS Alumni Business Connect Club Forum - Taking on the China Market Series
Series 1: Simplifying Marketing for a Complex Market
What do dog food, carbonated soft drink, car tire, mobile phone and video games have in common?
Maurice Tan, a NUS business school alumnus came to China in the early '90s and managed those businesses since his graduation. This goes to show that there is an immense collection of experiences, ideas, energy and creativity here in Shanghai. NUS business school Alumnus Shanghai is pleased to form the Business Connect, an initiative that aims to bring business people, entrepreneurs and professionals together to capture this vigor here in dynamic China and turn it into valuable networking.
In this first gathering on a series of business forum organized under the new Business Connect Club of NUS Business School, Eastern China Alumni Network, we have invited Maurice to kick-off by sharing his pioneering experience in doing businesses here in China.
Maurice is currently the Managing Director for Microsoft Entertainment & Devices business in Greater China Region. Before taking up this role, Maurice was with McDonald's, Mars, PepsiCo, Nokia and Goodyear.
After which we will have a discussion forum where we will be inviting our alumnus, Alvin Neo (Marketing Director, Global Emerging Markets Group, J&J Consumer), Dave Tan (General Manager, East Asia Mgt Office, Sony China) and Tommy Leong (Vice President & General Manager, Philips Lighting China Commercial) to be part of a panel to share on consumer marketing here in China. Winston Nyo (COO, Dynamedia) will be facilitating the discussion, looking into the practical approaches of marketing here in China.
In this panel, we will have a wealth of experiences spanning premier organizations like P&G, BCG, Gillette, Sony and Philips and it is expected to be exciting to hear how successful Americans, Japanese and Europeans enterprises from different industries take on the challenges of the Chinese market. Certainly, it will not be on price and cost!
So join us for this forum and a dinner to network after that! See you there.
