6, Background
In recent years, Chinese government attaches great importance to develop trade in services. Financial service is an important part of services trade and of great potential in international exchanges and cooperation. Guangzhou Municipal Government also established strategies of developing “A Strong Financial City” and formulated a series of policies to promote the development of financial service industry.
Since the second half of 2007, the growth momentum of the main economies around the world began to slow down. Chinese government adopted a tight monetary policy and therefore enterprises in the Pearl River Delta Area, especially the private ones, met some difficulties in getting financing. With a view to helping enterprises with the development potential in Pearl River Delta to expand the investment and financing channels and ensuring smooth industrial transfer, "China international Financial Services Conference" will be held in Guangzhou, the financial center of South China. The Conference will promote the exchanges on depth and mutual beneficial cooperation among financial institutions, financial enterprises and outward-oriented enterprises. On the one hand, it will display new products and services of commercial banks, investment banks, guarantee companies and other financial institutions home and abroad, and help Chinese enterprises know more about how to obtain funds through trade financing and equity financing. On the other hand, it will equip domestic financial institutions with advanced concepts from overseas counterparts so as to assist Chinese financial institutions to go global.
