The “Service Excellence for a Brighter Future 2008” Forum was held on January 10, 2008, at the Raffles Beijing Hotel. This forum was jointly organized by Channel NewsAsia, MediaCorp News Pte Ltd., and the Chinese Culture Promotion Society. The forum was attended by more than 300 audiences and media including important personalities from across China and Singapore, comprising government officials, officials from the Singapore Tourism Board, scholars from the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Marketing Committee, experts from the tourism and services industries, and prominent entrepreneurs, among others.
On the issues of how to promote the development of the service industry through the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the participants analyzed the opportunities and challenges that the Olympic Games present to China’s tourism, service and cultural attractions industries. They also discussed the Game’s greater impact on the Asian tourism and service industries as a whole. Based on the economic development of Asia’s services industry, the forum not only established a platform for industry experts to share their experiences, but also, and most significantly, provided new ideas for the further development of China’s tourism and services industry with some practical theories and new initiatives.
